Obesity Saxenda

How To Save On Saxenda

Saxenda (liraglutide) is prescribed to treat obese patients, or those with weight-related illness. In conjunction with diet and exercise, Saxenda has been shown to help patients shed weight and keep it off. Saxenda works by functioning as a hormone within the body and acting upon the brain. Saxenda decreases appetite, thus keeping patients from overeating.

There is currently no generic for Saxenda, so patients without insurance can expect to pay as much as $1000 a month for a prescription. Even with coverage, patient co-pays for new, brand-name drugs can add up; especially considering that Saxenda may be prescribed over a long period of time.

Comparing Saxenda prices is one way to decrease the out-of-pocket expense at the pharmacy.

Manufacturer Coupons for Saxenda

Novo Nordisk, the makers of Saxenda, offers a manufacturer’s coupon for those who qualify. Patients can pay as little as $30 a prescription, with a maximum savings of $200 per prescription. Patients must visit Novo Nordisk online and fill out a registration form to request the card.

Novo Nordisk may offer other prescription-cost help. Patients can call their hotline Monday through Friday, from 8am to 8pm ET at 1-866-258-8165.

Patient Assistance Programs for Saxenda

Novo Nordisk also offers a program called SaxendaCare. It is an award-winning, step-by-step program that helps patients meet and maintain their weight loss goals. Some of the benefits of the SaxendaCare program include: coaches who offer encouragement and advice, refill and dosing reminders, syncing with popular fitness trackers, and advice on how to add nutrition and physical activity to a patient’s weight-loss regimen. Patients who enroll in SaxendaCare are automatically offered the Saxenda Savings Card. Any future savings offers on Saxenda would surely be offered through SaxendaCare as well.

Medicare recipients may also qualify for additional governmental assistance on the costs of their prescriptions. Patients can check out the SSA’s Extra Help Program online to see if they qualify.
